DOVER, Del.- Two suspects are behind bars on drug dealing charges following the Tuesday morning police raid of a Dover home.
Delaware State Police say the raid occurred at a home located in the unit block of Saxton Road in the Kent Acres community. According to police, the raid culminated a six-month investigation into the sale of cocaine and prescription pills.
Thirty-year-old Melanie Unsworth and 27-year-old Tyrone Thomas were taken into custody inside the home without incident. Police say that during a search of the home, investigators found 5.1 grams of cocaine packaged for sale, 18.8 grams of marijuana, 27 Xanax pills, a digital scale with packaging materials and an undisclosed amount of currency.
Also, during the search two children, a 7- and a 3-year-old, were located unharmed. Both children were subsequently turned over to relatives. A referral to Division of Family Services was made by investigators for follow-up.
Unsworth was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3 where she was charged with seven counts of delivery of narcotic Schedule II controlled substance (felony); six counts of maintaining a dwelling for keeping controlled substance (felony); three counts of second-degree conspiracy (felony); one count of delivery of narcotic Schedule IV controlled substance (felony); one count of possession with intent to deliver narcotic Schedule II controlled substance (felony); one count of possession with intent to manufacture III, IV and V controlled substances (felony); two counts of endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanor) and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
Unsworth is being held in the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Center in lieu of $95,500 secure bond.
Thomas was also transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3 where he was charged with three counts of delivery of narcotic Schedule IV controlled substance (felony); four counts of maintaining a dwelling for keeping controlled substances (felony); one count of delivery of narcotic Schedule II controlled substance (felony); three counts of second-degree conspiracy, (felony); one count of possession with intent to deliver narcotic Schedule II controlled substance (felony); one count of possession with intent to manufacture narcotic Schedule III, IV, and V controlled substance (felony), two counts of endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanor); and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
Thomas is being held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $48,000 secured bond and an administrative warrant for violation of probation.
