Man Charged With Pointing Fake Gun at Officers

WILMINGTON, Del.- New Castle County Police have arrested a 30-year-old man accused of pointing a replica handgun at two police officers.

Police say officers responded to a report of a group of men drinking alcohol and breaking bottles in the 500 block of Homestead Road on Sunday night.

Polcie say most of the men went inside when officers approached, but one man pulled what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at two officers.

One officer grabbed the weapon and pushed the man to the ground. Police later determined the weapon was actually a replica of a 9 mm handgun.

Tomas Cruz-Carrera is charged with carrying a concealed dangerous instrument, aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct. Police say Cruz-Carrera is an illegal immigrant from Guatemala and faces possible deportation.
