DOVER, Del. - Police say five teenagers were arrested early Wednesday morning for stealing from cars in Dover.
Dover police responded to the area of 430 Country Village Apartments in reference to a report of several suspects attempting to steal a motorcycle. Upon arrival, officers say they saw someone enter a parked vehicle and once that person saw the police, he along with four other males fled on foot.
According to investigators, after a brief foot chase and assistance all five suspects were caught. Police say they checked the parking lot and discovered that several cars had been entered with several items being removed.
Authorities say later that morning, eight victims called in thefts from their vehicles. Items removed included purses, DVD's, money, credit cards, camera and cell phones. Police ask any victims missing items from their vehicle to call police at (302) 736-7111.
Police arrested Terrance Trotman, 18, of Dover for eight counts of third-degree burglary, second-degree conspiracy, eight counts of theft, four counts of third-degree criminal trespass, and resisting arrest, carrying a concealed deadly weapon (knife), person prohibited and littering.
Trotman was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and locked up at the James Vaughn Correctional Center on a $15,800 secured bond.
Dover police also arrested three 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old. They were all charged with eight counts of third-degree burglary, second-degree conspiracy, eight counts of theft, four counts of third-degree criminal trespass, resisting arrest and littering.
The juveniles were arraigned at Family Court and locked up at the Stevenson House all on $5,000 bond except for one of the 16-year-olds whose bond was set at $10,000.
