DOVER, Del.- More than a year ago, doctors diagnosed 12-year-old Dover resident Ta'Kiya Lucas with brain cancer. And next week, one of her biggest dreams will come true, when she gets to meet President Barack Obama.

Ta'Kiyah Lucas was in school when Obama was sworn into office.

"Everybody was jumping up and down yelling and clapping, saying, 'Obama,'" she said.

Now, six months later, Lucas is preparing a scrapbook to give to the president when she meets him on Monday. On Sunday her family said Lucas will be picked up in a Limo and then taken to Washington, D.C. On Monday she will get to spend some time with the President. It's a dream come true for her. Her trip has been arranged by the Kids Wish Network.

According to her aunt, Cherie Solomon, "At first we didn't believe it. We received confirmation from them and we're like this is real"

Lucas has undergone chemotherapy and surgery and her Aunt said doctors hope her cancer is in remission. Her Aunt said the journey has been trying.

"At times it can be hard. She has her good days and her down days," Solomon said.

Lucas's grandmother died of cancer and Cherie Solomon said Ta'Kiyah's mother has also been diagnosed with cancer. But on Monday Takiyah hopes her worries will go away, when she meets Obama.
