VIENNA, Md.- The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says dozens of people are facing charges after deputies broke up two separate underage alcohol parties over the weekend.
The first underage alcohol party occurred Friday, July 10 at a home on Maiden Forest Road in Vienna. Deputies who responded to the scene observed several people trying to run from the area. Police say the area was well lit and the deputies were able to make contact with 20 suspects at the home. The deputies located a box of Coors Light, two bottles of rum and a keg of draft beer. Police say the homeowners were not present at the time of the incident.
Three of the 20 suspects involved were juveniles and 17 were over 18 years of age.
The suspects were all issued citations and parents and guardians were contacted. The alcohol was confiscated pending action by the Dorchester County District Court.
The other incident occurred Saturday at a home on Route 14 in East New Market. Deputies who responded to a reported underage alcohol party observed several people running from the home. The deputies were able to persuade most of the suspects to return.
A total of 14 suspects were located: four juveniles and 10 suspects over 18 years of age. Numerous containers of alcohol were destroyed or confiscated along with a small baggie of marijuana, according to police. The suspects were all issued citations and their parents and guardians were contacted.
