DOVER, Del.- Authorities are asking the public's help in identifying the culprits responsible for two arson fires that occurred nearby each other earlier this week in Carlisle Village just north of Dover.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office says both fires happened early Tuesday morning. The first fire was reported at 2:25 a.m. in a vehicle in the unit block of Tammie Drive in Carlisle Village. The Cheswold Fire Company responded to the scene.

When the first fire apparatus arrived, firefighters witnessed a vehicle parked in the driveway fully involved with fire. The fire was quickly spreading to the residence via the home's attic.  Firefighters also witnessed another vehicle in the 100 block of Tammie Drive on fire in the roadway.  The Cheswold Fire Company requested assistance from the Leipsic and Dover fire companies to help battle both blazes.

The first vehicle fire spread into the home's attic area resulting in heavy fire damage to the occupied house.  The occupant was able to escape the home without injury.  The second vehicle fire was confined to the vehicle with no extension to the other surrounding parked vehicles.

Deputy State Fire Marshals investigated both fires and determined both vehicles were intentionally set on fire. Damages combined were estimated at $85,000.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal's Office at (302) 739-4447 or Crime Stoppers at 800- TIP-3333.
