Fire Destroys Chestertown Home

CHESTERTOWN, Md.- Authorities are investigating the cause of a late Friday night fire that destroyed a home in Chestertown.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says the blaze occurred at 11:32 p.m. at a vacant two-story home located on Old Morgnec Road.

It took 38 firefighters from the Chestertown, Kennedyville, Crumpton, Betterton and Sudlersville fire companies about half an hour to get the fire under control. The fire caused an estimated $60,000 in damage to the structure. There were no reported injuries.

The area of origin and cause of the fire are investigation. Deputy State Fire Marshals note that there had been a thunderstorm approximately one hour before the fire was reported.
