Georgetown Police Department on Leave Following Shooting

GEORGETOWN, Del.- Delaware State Police say that following Tuesday night's shooting that killed 29-year-old Georgetown police officer Chad Spicer and left 31-year-old Cpl. Shawn Brittingham wounded, the Georgetown Police Department has been placed on leave until further notice.

Surrounding agencies are assisting with patroling the town of Georgetown. The assisting agencies include State Police, the Governor's Task Force (Probation and Parole) and numerous other local municipal agenices.

State Police say the agency is utilizing its Critical Incident Stress Management team to offer counseling services to officers from all departments involved.
