Denton Woman Dies in Accident

PRESTON, Md.- Maryland State Police say a Denton woman is dead after the minivan she was driving north of Preston went off the road, crashed into a ditch and overturned Wednesday night.

Shortly before 7 p.m. troopers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Harmony Road in the area of Todds Wharf Road near Preston. 

Troopers discovered that the driver of a 1996 Dodge Caravan had left the roadway and struck a ditch.  The vehicle then overturned and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver, who was identified as 47-year-old Debra Louise Todd of Denton, was transported to Easton Memorial Hospital were she succumbed to her injuries. The roadway was closed for nearly four hours while troopers investigated the crash.

Todd's next of kin were notified at the hospital.
