Posted:

SELYBVILLE, Md.- Authorities say an electrical malfunction is to blame for an early Tuesday morning fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a Selbyville area home.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office says the blaze occurred at 4:55 a.m. at a vacant house located on the 37000 block of Johnson Road.

The Roxana Fire Department, assisted by the Selbyville and Millville departments, responded to the scene.  Upon arrival they encountered smoke showing.

No injuries were reported.  Damages have been estimated at $25,000.

Investigators have determined that the fire originated in the crawl space under the master bedroom and was caused by an electrical malfunction at a junction box.
