HARRINGTON, Del.- Authorities on Tuesday arrested a Harrington woman accused of stabbing a man with a kitchen knife during a domestic dispute.
Twenty-two-year-old Cherelle L. Carter was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Harrington police say Carter's arrest was the result of a reported domestic incident at the Clarks Corner Apartments. Police say that during the altercation with 24-year-old Vincent E. Mumford, also of Harrington, Carter stabbed him with a kitchen knife. According to police, officers also learned that Mumford had grabbed Carter by the neck and pushed her. The incident occurred in front of a child in the home, according to police.
Police say officers also arrested Mumford for his alleged role in the incident. He was charged with offensive touching and endangering the welfare of a child.
Both suspects were taken in to custody and transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing and an arraignment through Justice of the Peace Court #7. Mumford was released on a $750 unsecured bond and Carter was locked up in the Sussex Correctional Institute on an $8,000 secured bond pending a preliminary hearing at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.
