PRESTON, Md.- Five people were displaced as the result of an early Sunday morning fire that heavily damaged a Preston home.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says the 1:35 a.m. blaze occurred at a two-story single-family dwelling located on 22350 Hog Creek Road.
It took 40 firefighters from the Preston, Federalsburg, Easton and Cordova fire companies about one hour to get the fire under control.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the structure and another $50,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.
Investigators determined that the fire originated in a first floor closet. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The five residents displaced in the fire are staying with family.
