EASTON, Md.- Easton police say a Preston man is facing multiple charges after being arrested for having used a stolen credit card.
Twenty-six-year-old Charles Edward Schmitt was arrested Wednesday and charged with using a stolen credit card on five occasions between Sept. 23 and 28. He was charged with two counts of theft under $100, three counts of theft under $500, five counts of credit card-sign another's name, two counts of credit card/another charge under $100 and three counts of credit card/another charge under $500 and one count of theft scheme over $500. Schmitt was taken before a court commissioner and held in the Talbot County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
While in custody for the above charges, Schmitt was found to have an active Talbot County criminal summons through the Talbot County Sheriff's Department that charged him with the following: two counts of forgery-private documents, two counts of forgery - private documents/possess, three counts of theft Under $100 and one count of issue false document. Police say those charges stem from a May 18 incident in which Schmitt is alleged to have stolen and forged two checks..
