SALISBURY, Md.- Several dozen Wicomico County residents got together Tuesday night for the annual meeting of the Wicomico Neighborhood Congress- where police encouraged the formation of more neighborhood watch groups.

This follows a string of recent crime, including several bank robberies in the Salisbury area.

One member of the WNC says she is concerned.

"It's very disconcerting," said Salisbury resident Connie Strott. "I have been just very very concerned that this is happening in Wicomico County, and why so many, and why so frequently."

Police say neighborhood watch programs help fight crime.

"Neighborhood watches are a great thing because it teaches people to look out for themselves and look out for one another," said Sgt. Tim Robinson, of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office. "And they're the ones that know more [about] what's going on in the neighborhood than we do."
