Posted:

EASTON, Md.- Easton police have arrested a 26-year-old Ridgley man accused of shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of items from the Acme supermarket on Marlboro Avenue.

Earlier this month, officers responded to a reported shoplifting at the Acme. According to police, a witness stated that he observed Jason MacFarland concealing numerous items in his pants. The witness further told officers that MacFarland then allegedly attempted to walk out of the store with the merchandise. Police say the witness attempted to stop MacFarland at the door as officers were arriving.

Police say that when officers arrived, they observed MacFarland removing the stolen items from his pants. Investigators say the total value of the items that MacFarland tried to steal was $341.78.

MacFarland was charged with theft under $1,000 and released pending trial.
