MILLSBORO, Del.- Delaware State Police say they have linked evidence collected from the scenes of three Millsboro area shootings to two Delaware men.
Troopers on Friday afternoon arrested 29-year-old Joshua Callahan of Millsboro and 23-year-old Lavell Cunningham of New Castle. The three shootings occurred shortly after midnight Friday in the Millsboro area.
The first shooting was reported at around 12:13 a.m. at a home on the 32000 block of Delaware Avenue in the Oak Orchard community, located just east of Millsboro. Police say that when troopers arrived on the scene, they met with a victim who stated that an unknown black male suspect approached the home and asked for someone whom the homeowner did not know. The suspect then fired two rounds through the front door of the home before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported at this location.
A few minutes later, at 12:29 a.m., police received a call indicating that shots had been fired in the area of 32000 block of River Road in Oak Orchard. Witness reports indicated that the shots were fired from a gold or tan minivan occupied by two unknown suspects, described only as a white male and a black male. No injuries were reported at this location.
Finally, at approximately 12:36 a.m., someone called 911 from a grocery store located on Bay Farm Road in Millsboro to report a robbery and shooting. While the investigation is still underway into this incident, police say that at present time reports indicate that two people were approached by a white and black male traveling in the above described minivan. Police say the black male suspect got out of the vehicle and ordered the two victims to the ground. The suspect then removed took several of their belongings and fired one round, striking one of the victims in the hand and torso area. The suspect vehicle then fled in an unknown direction.
The male victim who suffered gunshot wounds was transported to Beebe Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Troopers stopped Callahan and Cunningham on Route 1 near Route 24 outside of Rehoboth Friday afternoon. Callahan and Cunningham were taken to Troop 4 in Georgetown, where they were each charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of robbery, multiple counts of weapon offenses, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, multiple counts of reckless endangering, conspiracy and criminal mischief.
Callahan was jailed in default of $213,500 cash bail and Cunningham was locked up in default of $564,000 cash bail.
