EAST NEW MARKET, Md.- Maryland State Police are looking for an armed suspect wanted for holding up a convenience store in East New Market.
Police say the crime occurred at around 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 9, at the Springdale Market on 5701 Mt. Holly Road.
Troopers learned that an unknown male suspect armed with a shotgun entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect then grabbed a cash drawer from the register and a coin box- both of which contained an undetermined amount of money- and then walked out of the store and headed toward Indian Grant Road on Mt. Holly Road.
Police say the suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6-foot-tall and 160-180 pounds. He was wearing a long sleeve black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and was wearing a tan scarf across his face at the time of the robbery. His weapon was further described as an older pump-action shotgun that appeared to have rust on the finish. The suspect may have fled the scene in an older model station wagon that was parked on Indian Grant Road.
