VIENNA, Md.- An 18-year-old Vienna woman is facing negligent manslaughter and related charges in connection with a fatal DUI crash that occurred last spring, the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, a Dorchester County Circuit Court judge ordered the case against Ashley Anne Hurley to be moved from the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice into the adult system.
Hurley is charged with negligent manslaughter by automobile, negligent homicide by automobile while under the influence, negligent homicide by automobile while impaired, driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol per se and driving a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Hurley was the driver of a motor vehicle that was involved in a May 22 crash on Punch Island Road in Taylor’s Island. A male passenger, Ronald Wayne Bryan III, died in the crash. Hurley was 17 at the time of the incident.
Hurley was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond. Her trial is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2010.
