DOVER, Del. (WBOC/AP)- The state medical examiner is confirming that a Smyrna couple's son found in a hotel dumpster was stillborn.

A Department of Correction spokesman says 27-year-old Dereke R. Moore and his wife, 28-year-old Jeanne A. Moore are being held after failing to post $10,000 bond on abusing a corpse and third-degree conspiracy charges. The misdemeanor charges have a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a fine.

Authorities believe the baby was stillborn Saturday, Nov. 7 at Dereke Moore's parents' home. The next day Jeanne Moore went to Bayhealth Medical Center for vaginal bleeding. That is where authorities allege she confessed of placing the boy's body in a trash bag and then disposing of it in a dumpster behind the Hampton Inn on North DuPont Highway in Dover.
