BALTIMORE (AP)- Maryland corrections officials say the state has received its first shipment of H1N1 flu vaccine and will provide shots to some inmates and staff.
The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services says 1,900 vaccinations will be administered by its health care provider, Correctional Medical Services.
Inmates who are pregnant, under the age of 24 with underlying health conditions, and those ages 25-64 with high-risk health complications are in the priority group to get the vaccine.
Staff who are permanently assigned to infirmaries or a medical transportation unit, including contracted health care providers working within the facilities, are also in a priority group.
