Posted:

EASTON, Md.- Easton police have arrested two people accused of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of medical supplies from a CVS pharmacy. One of the suspects is also charged with assaulting a police officer.

Police say the incident occurred Nov. 14 at the CVS, where a suspect ran out of the store with a shopping basket, 14 pregnancy tests and two blood pressure test kits. Police say that upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect, along with a second suspect, had gotten into a vehicle and driven away.

The suspects were located a short time later at a Wal-Greens pharmacy. Police say witnesses observed the driver of the car, 19-year-old Thomas Gregory Iseman, of Centreville, get out of the vehicle and hide a red basket into some bushes in the Wal-Greens parking lot. According to police, officers were able to locate the stolen items in the bushes where the witnesses claimed that they saw Iseman place them. Police say a search of the vehicle that Iseman was in revealed suspected drug paraphernalia.

Officers located the other suspect, 22-year-old Charles Michael Simpson Jr., also of Centreville, inside the Wal-Greens. Police say Simpson’s description matched that of the suspect who had just stolen the items from the CVS. When officers approached Simpson he attempted to flee and in doing so assaulted one of the responding officers, according to police.  The officer was not seriously injured; however the officer’s uniform was damaged. Investigators say the merchandise that was stolen from the CVS totaled $420.34.

Iseman was charged with one count of each of the following charges: theft less than $1,000; conspiracy to commit a theft less than $1,000; obstructing and hindering; and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Iseman was held at the Talbot County Detention Center on a $5,000 bail.

Simpson was charged with one count of each of the following charges: second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer; theft less than $1,000; resisting arrest; failure to obey a lawful order; disorderly conduct; malicious destruction of property; and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Simpson was held at the Talbot County Detention Center on a $25,000 bail.
