DOVER, Del.- Residents of Woodmill Apartments in west Dover are cleaning up after a weekend fire. Dover fire officials said nine people were left displaced.
Officials say the fire broke out early Saturday morning and left several apartments damaged. The Red Cross of Delmarva said it was able to provide temporary shelter and clothing to those who were affected.
Clean up crews were at apartment building G on Monday cleaning up. Resident Rose Ann Dente said she got an unpleasant wake-up call Saturday morning.
"The alarm was going off. Someone came knocking on my door and said get out, the building is on fire," Dente said.
And while residents were shaken up, they said they are grateful the fire was not worse.
"It could have been a lot worse, a lot worse I think," she said.
Fire investigators said the fire was caused by a clothes dryer.
