House Fire Probed in Queen Anne’s County

CRUMPTON, Md.- The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an early Sunday morning fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a home in Crumpton.

The 12:50 a.m. blaze occurred at a vacant two-story home located on 212 Broad St. It took 27 firefighters from the Crumpton, Chestertown, Sudlersville, Millington, Church Hill, Centreville, Clayton and Hartly fire companies an hour to get the fire under control.

The fire caused an estimated $70,000 in damage to the home and another $10,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.

Deputy State Fire Marshals determined the fire originated on a side porch but the cause is still under investigation.
