WILMINGTON, Del.- Authorities say a Delaware man is facing charges after he was caught smoking marijuana while driving with his 2-year-old son in the car.
New Castle County Police say officers saw 27-year-old Leroy Taylor of Collins Park rolling a marijuana cigarette Sunday afternoon while sitting in the car with his son. Police say Taylor started to drive away.
Officers say they initiated a traffic stop after he failed to use a turn signal as he exited the parking lot of the gas station. According to police, when the officers approached Taylor, they could see small pieces of marijuana on the front of his shirt. After he was pulled out of the car, officers say they found one bag of marijuana and six bags of cocaine inside his pockets. The officers also seized the $625 in cash he had on him as well, according to police.
Taylor’s 2-year-old son and his mother were also inside the car at the time of the arrest. Taylor has been charged with possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for keeping a controlled substance, possession of narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while suspended and failure to use a turn signal.
He was released after posting a $6,000 secured bail.
