FEDERALSBURG, Md.- The Caroline County Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in locating a 41-year-old convicted child sex offender wanted for failing to reregister as a sex offender as required by law.

Police say an arrest warrant was obtained for Michael Leon Burgess after he failed to report as required for his semi-annual re-registration requirement as a registered sex offender. According to police, Burgess is required to register for life as a result of a third-degree sex offense conviction in Talbot County Circuit Court in 2002 that involved a 4-year-old victim.

Burgess is described as a white male, blond hair, blue eyes, 5-foot-7 and 155 pounds. His last known whereabouts were on Old Denton Road in the Federalsburg area.
