SALISBURY, Md.- Salisbury police have arrested a suspect accused of holding up the Food Lion supermarket on Snow Hill Road.
Police say that on Sunday, Nov. 22 at around 10:20 p.m., officers were called to the Food Lion to respond to a reported armed robbery in progress. Food Lion employees- none of whom were harmed during the incident- provided the officers a description of the suspect.
Police say that as the officers arrived on the scene, they observed the suspect armed with a shortened shotgun and the stolen cash leaving the Food Lion. According to police, the suspect then ran with the officers giving chase. Police say that during the pursuit the suspect dropped money and the shotgun, both of which were recovered.
Investigators say the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Tyrone Voneric Dale of Hurlock, was caught in the area of Regency Drive after the foot chase and taken into custody after fighting with the officers. A neighborhood resident assisted officers with subduing Dale.
The stolen money was returned to the Food Lion, according to police.
Dale was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, three counts of first-degree assault, wearing and carrying a firearm, resisting arrest, two counts of false imprisonment, two counts of reckless endangerment, theft (over $ 1,000), trespassing and disorderly conduct. He was turned over to the custody of Wicomico Central Booking.
