TYASKIN, Md.- Authorities are investigating a Monday morning fire that caused hundreds of thousands of damage to a home in western Wicomico County.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says the 5 a.m. blaze occurred at a two-story home with an attached garage located on 23049 Capitola Road in Tyaskin.

It took 35 firefighters from the Westside, Hebron, Mardela Springs, Delmar and Salisbury fire companies an hour to get the fire under control.

There were no reported injuries but the fire did cause an estimated $250,000 in damage to the structure and another $20,000 in damage to the home's contents.

State fire investigators say a smoke detector was present but the installation was not fully complete.

The blaze was determined to have started in the garage but its cause remains under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Salisbury office of the State Fire Marshal at (410) 713-3780.
