CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- For the second time in the season's first three weeks, a Navy men's basketball player has been honored as the Patriot League Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Senior Chris Harris was voted as this week's winner after averaging 27.0 ppg in the Mids' two games during the past week.

Harris, a 6-2, 185-pound guard from Mechanicsville, Va., is honored for the second time in his career after helping the Mids to a 1-1 record. He tallied a career-high 37 points in the Mids' 87-70 victory over Towson last Tuesday night. The 37 points was just one shy of Michael Heary's Alumni Hall record 38 points he scored against Holy Cross on Jan. 29, 1997, and equaled the most for a Patriot League player in a contest since Holy Cross' Keith Simmons scored 38 against Chattanooga on Dec. 5, 2005. His 37 points were the 16th most in school history and the total is currently the eighth most in a game in the country this season. The performance also pushed him over 1,100 points for his career and into 18th place on the school's career scoring list, currently with 1,123 points. He became the 10th player in school history to have two or more 30-point games in his career.

He then added 17 points, all coming in the second half and overtime, of Navy's 65-56 loss to Northeast Conference favorite Mount St. Mary's on Saturday. He has scored in double figures in all six games this year, and leads the Patriot League in scoring at 20.0 ppg. In addition, he saw a streak of 37 consecutive free throws made end against Mount St. Mary's, but he did pass the previous school record of 34 set by Matt Sladky in the 1996-97 season. He currently ranks 47th nationally in free throw percentage (min. 2.5 attempts per game) at 91.1 percent and his 41 free throws made are the 11th most nationally.

Harris and his teammates will host Quinnipiac tonight (Monday, Nov. 30) at Alumni Hall at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available at the Alumni Hall ticket window prior to the game.
