MILFORD, Del.- For the first time since her murdered woman Christine Sheddy's remains were found, her mother is speaking out about her daughter's death.

The 26-year-old Milford mother of three went missing in November 2007. Last month, her remains were found in Snow Hill, Md. Sheddy's mother, Lynn Dodenhoff, said that long before last month's discovery she knew her daughter would not be found alive.

Dodenhoff said that while her maternal instinct told her Sheddy was dead, for two agonizing years she was determined to find her daughter.

"It was an uphill battle trying to get somebody to believe me and take me seriously," Dodenhoff said. "Christine was not just a missing person."

Dodenhoff said she turned to the Internet for help. She searched for clues about her daughter's disappearance. The concerned mother promised Sheddy that she would never let her down.

"I fought hard for my daughter," Dodenhoff said. "But it was worth it. Her children know that she did not leave them."

Dodenhoff said finding her daughter's remains brought the family some comfort.

"I can't say that I have closure as of yet because that just doesn't happen overnight, but I'm kind of having a hard time taking my investigating hat off," she said.

Sheddy's father, Claire Sheddy, flew in from Alaska for his daughter's funeral. He said the trade brought the divorced couple closer. The grieving parents question why their daughter was murdered.

"I really just want to know what a 104-pound kid did to deserve to die," Claire Sheddy said. "Dads know how I feel. I can't say what I want to say but dad's know how I feel."

The sentiment was echoed by Sheddy's stepfather, Steven Dodenhoff.

"When the trials begin, its going to be tough to see how I react," he said. "I'm sure that people can understand that."

The Worcester County State's Attorney's Office has charged a 19-year-old Texas man in connection with Sheddy's murder.
