CLARKSVILLE, Del.- Filling your tires with nitrogen could save you cash at the pump.

Research shows that tires filled with nitrogen as opposed to air can help with your gas mileage. Underinflated tires can send you back to the pump more often. David Hamm, owner of the Goodyear Auto Center in Clarksville said nitrogen can help drivers in more ways than one.

"The tire itself will not lose air," he said. "It stays in the tire longer and that's really the biggest thing for fuel economy."

Nitrogen can also help your tires last up to 25 percent longer. Right now nitrogen costs between $6-7 per tire.
