DENTON, Md. (AP)- Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley is weighing in against the proposed Blackwater Resort community in Cambridge.
He spoke against the project Saturday when he brought his campaign for governor to the Mid-Shore. Plans call for 3,200 homes on what is now farmland. O'Malley claims cuts in state aid to local jurisdictions is spurring new development. He says local governments see growth as a way to make up for a loss of state funding. O'Malley spoke Saturday evening at the Democratic Club of Caroline County's annual meeting. During his remarks, he reaffirmed his support for legal slot machines as a means to protect the horse industry in the state.
