CAROLINE COUNTY, Md.- The police say a 52-year-old Easton woman was killed and several other people were injured following a head-on crash in Caroline County late Tuesday night.
The Maryland State Police say that at about 10: 16 p.m., a collision occurred between a red Ford Taurus and a silver Chevrolet Impala on Route 331 (Dover Bridge Road), east of the Dover Bridge in Caroline County.
The police say one of the vehicles was on the wrong side of the road and the vehicles hit head-on. According to the police, the driver of the Taurus, identified as Kelly Ann Ruskin, 40, of Denton, had been drinking alcoholic beverages. The police say illegal drugs were also found in the Ford Taurus. Ruskin was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
The police say the silver Chevrolet Impala had four occupants. The driver, identified as Pravin Patel, 56, of Easton, was injured and was flown to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury for treatment. The right front passenger and the left rear passenger were flown to Shock Trauma for treatment. The right rear passenger of the Impala, identified as Dhanlaxmi Patel, 52, of Easton, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The police say charges are pending. The investigation is being conducted by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
