Redskins Rookie McIntosh to Have Minor Knee Surgery

06/13/2006

ASHBURN, Va. (AP)- Washington Redskins linebacker Rocky McIntosh, the team's top pick in this year's draft, will have minor knee surgery Wednesday and will miss this weekend's minicamp.

McIntosh has some irritation in the knee that developed gradually over the past six weeks, during rookie camp and the subsequent spring workouts. McIntosh opted to have the surgery this week so that he could recover in time for the start of training camp in late July. M

cIntosh, the Redskins' second-round pick (No. 35 overall) from the University of Miami, is being groomed to replace LaVar Arrington at weakside linebacker. Arrington left the team as a free agent this offseason.

The Redskins' three-day minicamp begins Friday.
