WILMINGTON-  The sentence for a repeat sex offender in Delaware Friday morning gets national attention.

A New Castle County Superior Court judge has sentenced Russell Teeter, 69, of Newark, to 60 days in jail for exposing himself to a 10-year-old girl last May.

He must also wear a T-shirt saying "I'm a registered sex offender" while at work for almost two years.

Almost everyone WBOC spoke with Friday liked the idea.

"I think that it's a good idea," Dan Hughes of Edgemoor said. "They have to do something to let people know about who's who."

Ed Watkins, also of Edgemoor, agreed. "I think it's appropriate. I mean, hopefully it will catch on."

Others worry that it is not a harsh enough penalty and will not be taken seriously.

Police say Teeter exposed himself at his horticulture business in Newark.
