Man Hurt in Trappe Hunting Accident

TRAPPE, Md.- Maryland Natural Resources Police say a man is in serious condition following a Saturday morning hunting accident near Trappe.

Police say the accident occurred at around 8:45 a.m. on private property off of Roslyn Farm Road near Trappe.

Edward C. Waitkaitis Jr., 40, of Arlington, Va., was struck in the eye by a pellet while goose hunting with friends. Members in the hunting party transported Waitkaitis to Easton Memorial Hospital. Waitkaitis was later flown to the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center by MedSTAR helicopter in critical but stable condition.

Investigators are not releasing the name of the alleged shooter at this time. The incident is an open ongoing investigation.
