DOVER, Del. (AP) - The parents a Delaware woman who is in a persistent vegetative state have resolved a legal dispute over the care of their daughter.

Attorneys said Wednesday that they have resolved a Chancery Court lawsuit involving 24-year-old Lauren Richardson, who was incapacitated by a heroin overdose while pregnant in 2006 but later gave birth to a healthy daughter.

Lauren's father, Randy Richardson, waged a court battle earlier this year after a judge awarded her mother, Edith Towers, sole guardianship and authority to remove their daughter's feeding tube.

Richardson fought to prevent the removal of the feeding tube, while his ex-wife said her daughter had made it clear that she would not have wanted to live in a vegetative state.

According to Randy Richardson, he and his ex-wife have been awarded joint guardianship of their daughter and will care for her at his home on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
