ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Sen. Roy Dyson will be sponsoring legislation to implement early voting in Maryland.
Voters ratified a constitutional amendment in November to authorize the General Assembly to enact early voting legislation.
The legislation would create a seven-day early voting period before the primary and general elections.
It also would designate early voting locations based on a population formula. The constitutional amendment was approved by about 70 percent of voters. It was needed because a previous early voting law was struck down by the state's highest court in 2006.
