MILTON, Del. (WBOC) - A Milton teen will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. A judge sentenced 18-year-old Devonaire Jones to 135 years.
Police say DNA linked Jones to two home invasions and rape in the Milton and Lewes areas. He was also charged with attempted murder and several weapons charges. The judge said Jones is required to serve a minimum of 80 years.
Milton Police arrested Jones and another then 17-year-old male from Milton, Del. in October of last year in connection with two rapes.
Milton police say in the early morning hours on Jan. 16, 2007, authorities responded to a home invasion in Shipbuilder Village where entry was made into the house and the female victim was awakened at gunpoint.
According to investigators, the victim was then sexually assaulted and the two suspects then fled.
Authorities say they learned of a similar incident, which occurred in Lewes. Milton Police contacted Lewes Police and obtained information regarding Jones. Milton Police say they had physical evidence that was collected at the scene in Milton and compared it to Jones, which was confirmed and led to Jones' arrest.
