Mike Parker Bio

Simply put, the Great Outdoors is Mike Parker's beat.

From fishing and hunting, to boating and bird watching, to crabbing and kayaking... Mike loves telling stories about anything and everything that happens outdoors on Delmarva. Mike's roots are in central Pennsylvania, where he grew up enjoying the vast forests, rivers, and creeks surrounding his small hometown. Now, this life-long outdoorsman gives WBOC viewers an entertaining look into the outdoor experiences happening every day here on our beautiful peninsula.

Along with a passion for the outdoors, Mike brings a decade of broadcasting experience to the job. Prior to joining the WBOC team in May of 2010, Mike spent nearly 10 years at the CBS affiliate in Harrisburg, Pa.

When he wasn't "anchored" to the news desk, he produced a segment called the Sportsman's Journal, taking his camera along on his own outdoor adventures. Over the years, Mike has chronicled everything from whitetail deer hunts, bass fishing tournaments, goose banding operations, and wild game cooking contests. Once, while spending the day working alongside employees of a fish hatchery, Mike even demonstrated how to harvest eggs out of a live trout for artificial insemination! In other words, what some would describe as kinda' gross, Mike considers as all in a day's work!

Like most outdoorsmen, Mike is a natural storyteller, and would love to share your outdoor experiences on WBOC. E-mail Mike at mparker@wboc.com.

Mike currently lives in Worcester County with his wife, daughter, son and two dogs.
