MILFORD, Del. - Police say they are looking for an 18-year-old man after five people were struck by bullets during a fight at an apartment complex in Milford just after midnight on Saturday.
Detectives are searching for Mark A. Phillips of Greenwood in connection to the shooting and consider him to be armed and dangerous.
According to the Milford Police Department, the shooting happened in the parking and roadway areas of the Bright Commons apartment complex.
Just about 30 minutes prior to the shooting, officers from the department's Patrol and K-9 Divisions say they responded to a large fight at the American Legion on Rehoboth Boulevard and police believe this was a continuance of that incident.
Police estimated that the fight at the American Legion involved 200 to 250 people. Police say people were in the parking lot and people had spilled out onto the roadway, blocking traffic. The building had been rented out for an event, according to police.
Four of the five victims in the shooting at the apartment complex were transported to Bayhealth in Milford and are being treated for non life threatening injuries.
"At this point, the motivation is just speculation, we don't know if any of the five victims are targets or just random," said Cpl. Robert Masten of the Milford police.
Authorities say the fifth victim is not cooperating with the investigation at this time.
Police are asking for anyone with information to call (302) 422-8081 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
