The first robbery occurred at around 11:04 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn on South Salisbury Boulevard. Responding officers met with hotel employees who stated that a lone suspect had entered the lobby of the hotel and had asked the staff questions.
The suspect then utilized hotel paper and pen to write a note requesting cash, indicating that the money was needed for his family, according to investigators.
Police say the suspect was described as "very polite." There were no weapons displayed and there were no injuries. The suspect was given an amount of cash and ran from the area.
Investigators say the suspect was described as a black male, in his early to mid-20s, short hair, very clean cut, medium build, wearing a black leather jacket with a black hoodie beneath.
The second robbery occurred at approximately 2:28 a.m. Tuesday at the Best Western on North Salisbury Boulevard. The officers met with hotel employees who stated that a suspect matching the above description had been allowed entry to the locked lobby.
The suspect wrote a similar note, requesting cash and was given an amount of money before running out the business. In this case, the suspect was believed to be in possession of a small handgun. There were no injuries reported.
Police say the suspect was described as a black male, in his early to mid-20s, short hair, very clean cut, medium build, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11, wearing a shiny black, white and turquoise leather jacket with a gold dragon emblem on the front.
Police say that after the above robbery, officers contact with all area motels and hotels and made the employees aware of the previous robberies. The employees were given a description of the suspect.
But the robbery spree continued. At approximately 5:45 a.m., officers responded to a third robbery that occurred at the Hampton Inn on East Naylor Mill Road on the city's north end. Officers met with hotel employees who stated that a lone suspect had been allowed entry into the hotel by the employees. The suspect wrote a note similar to the previous two and presented the note to the desk employees. The note indicated that the suspect needed money for his family and resulted in the employees giving the suspect an amount of cash. The suspect then ran out of the hotel. There were no weapons displayed and no reported injuries.
Police say the suspect was described as a black male, in his early to mid-20s, approximately 5-foot-8, thin build and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. The sweatshirt displayed a multicolored design.
