O'Malley Picks up Baltimore County Endorsements

04/03/2006

TOWSON, Md. (AP)- Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley is shoring up his support in Baltimore County.

O'Malley, who's running for governor, announced Saturday that he has been endorsed by more than 30 elected officials and other community leaders from the county.

Those endorsing O'Malley included four state senators, nine delegates and six county council members.

The county is expected to be a key battleground in Maryland's general election. In 2003, Governor Ehrlich beat then-lieutenant governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend 61 percent to 38 percent in Baltimore County.

O'Malley is running against Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan in the September Democratic primary.
