MILLSBORO, Del.- The owners of three Bonanza Restaurants in Delaware and one in Maryland say the restaurants have closed and about 200 people are out of work.
The Bonanzas in Milford, Delmar, Millsboro in Delaware and Pocomoke City, Md. have been closed until further notice.
Signs were posted Monday at the restaurants that read they had been shut down.
The owners said they closed them down because of financial troubles. They would not say whether they plan to sell the restaurants or if they will ever re-open.
Employees said they had little warning they would soon be without work, and some advance notice would have been nice.
Keli-Lynn Jordan worked at the Millsboro Bonanza until Sunday. She went back to the restaurant Monday to pick up her final paycheck.
"Some people learned on Friday that we were closing on Sunday and it was real messed up. We didn't get two weeks notice. We got a week, maybe a couple of days," Jordan said.
On Monday, customers who frequent the Millsboro Bonanza were still walking up to doors only to find out the restaurants has closed.
WBOC-TV also spoke with the former owners of the restaurants. They said they spent more than 20 years building up the business and are saddened by the closings.
They said the Bonanza restaurants were in good financial shape when they were sold to the current owners last year.
