DENTON, Md. (AP/WBOC)- A Caroline County man has been sentenced to two life sentences for the rape of a 64-year-old woman in a public restroom at a Denton park.
Thirty-year-old Tyrik E. Nichols of Denton was sentenced Tuesday for first- and second-degree rape as well as related sex offense charges. The judge added 13 years for convictions on two lesser charges. Prosecutors say Nichols will have to serve at least 30 years before being eligible for parole. Nichols was convicted on Dec. 20 in the four-hour attack last June.
