SELBYVILLE, Del. (WBOC) - Police say a chemical leak at a local poultry plant sent a dozen workers to the hospital.

Emergency crews say they were called to Mountaire Farms in Selbyville around 10:30 p.m. Friday night with 13 workers at the plant being taken to the hospital.

About 30 more were treated at the scene for nausea, headaches and other minor symptoms.

DNREC's emergency response team says it all started when carbon dioxide leaked from a  machine used to keep chickens cool while they are being transported.

The plant is open and running Saturday morning. We are told everyone injured in the leak is expected to be fine.
