Man Arrested for Posing as Police Officer, Sexual Assault

08/22/2008 5 PM ET

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury police say a man was arrested on Wednesday for impersonating a police officer to gain sexual favors from prostitutes in Salisbury.

Charles Wesley Kilmon, 59, of Easton, Md. was arrested for second-degree assault, fourth-degree sex offense, and personate a police officer.

According to investigators, during the on going investigation into the homicide of Audrey Jurewicz, detectives received information from interviews with area prostitutes that a subject was representing himself as a police officer in an attempt to gain sexual favors.

Authorities say that the suspect had picked up a victim and identified himself as a police officer. The suspect then began to kiss and touch the victim, but the victim had not consented to this and left the vehicle, police say.

According to authorities, with information received from the victim, a bulletin was sent out to area law enforcement in an attempt to locate the suspect.

Police say as a result of the bulletin a suspect that matched the description was stopped and a photograph obtained.

The victim was shown a photographic line up where she positively identified the subject as Kilmon who had assaulted her and represented himself as a police officer, officials say.

Kilmon was released to the custody of Central Booking.
