Fire Damages Millsboro Home

MILLSBORO, Del.- Authorities have ruled as accidental a Thursday afternoon fire that damaged a home in Millsboro.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office says the fire occurred at 12:09 p.m. at a home located on the 29000 block of Colonial Avenue.

The Millsboro Fire Department, assisted by the Dagsboro Fire Department, responded to the scene. On arrival they encountered heavy fire.

One occupant of the home was able to escape without injury.  Damages have been estimated at approximately $10,000.  The home was not equipped with working smoke detectors, according to fire investigators.

Fire investigators have also determined that the blaze originated in the kitchen and was caused by combustibles too close to a kerosene heater.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
