WILMINGTON, Del. (AP)- Delaware State Police say the former billing manager at a drug and alcohol treatment center has been charged with stealing more than $296,000 from the center.
Forty-eight--year-old Karen C. Hunt of New Castle surrendered to troopers on Monday. She is charged with felony theft and falsifying business records. She was released on $1,600 unsecured bond.
Investigators say a representative from Aquilla of Delaware in Wilmington went to state police last month to file a theft report.
The representative said an audit showed a series of internal thefts. Investigators say Hunt had intercepted payments to Aquilla and deposited them to her own bank account.
