BEAR, Del. (AP)- New Castle County police say a Maryland man died after the vintage pickup truck he was test-driving crashed head-on into an SUV.
Police say 43-year-old David Corothers of Chesapeake City, Md., was test-driving a 1953 Ford pickup on Reybold Road near Bear, Del., around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. The 70-year-old owner of the pickup also was riding in the truck.
Authorities say Corothers was traveling westbound when an SUV driven by Cecil Wright of Newark crossed over from the other side, going in the opposite direction, and went into the truck's path. Corothers was ejected from the pickup and died at the scene. The pickup owner got out before the vehicle caught fire. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
Wright was being treated at a hospital for several fractures.
Police say charges are pending.
