DOVER, Del. (AP)- A legislative committee has agreed to much of Gov. Jack Markell's proposed capital budget for road and construction projects.
The committee approved capital spending of about $258 million for several state agencies Monday but delayed voting on most of the transportation capital budget until Wednesday.
DelDot is slated to receive about $147 million in capital funding, including $14 million approved Monday. Lawmakers agreed to give DelDot that share of the $31 million left over last week after a committee finished work on an operating budget. The rest will go to the state strategic fund.
More than $100 million of the funding approved Monday is for public school projects.
Markell in January proposed a capital budget for the fiscal year starting July 1 of about $356 million.
